They make an effort to have empathy for their patients. They do not want to be rushed. Pretty much as possible, they stay away from the urge to become quick on the trigger. Good doctors have to be sensitive to the individual's requirements. They don't wish to address a situation as fast as possible as they don't choose to produce a new one. I believe there is a really simple idea behind each one of these traits: doctors are other people. As much as we might possibly try, it's hard to separate out the doctor from the remainder of the individual - a physician has the same needs, dreams, fears, and ambitions as the rest of us.
How can we think about these suggestions of the great doctor? They might be very sensible folks, however, they are now human beings. For instance, it seems like many doctors are uncomfortable with physician assistance in assisted euthanasia and suicide. But if doctors are not human, how can we have a moral opinion about it? This plan is central to virtually all of the medical ethics literature. Just what are the traits of the people I'd like to be?
In the first blog post, we'll start with concerns about character and get started on concerns about skills and values. In future blog posts, I will talk about troubles related to each perspective.
